Artistic Director, The Live Literature Company.

A chance in Shakespeare Week for all children to watch deaf performer Lee O'Brien play in British Sign Language as Romeo, opposite a hearing performer, Lucy Casson, playing Juliet. This short film captures the visual beauty of Sign Language as a means of communication, and the visual beauty of this balcony setting with a rose, one of the integral images in Shakespeare's language for this scene.

'What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other word would smell as sweet;'

Valerie invites all children watching this film to tick their response on You Tube, and to tweet their response to @LiveLitCo.
