A Shakey-Dog’s Tail

Announcement of our new Shakespeare Week patron for 2019.

Shakespeare Week is pawsitively thrilled to announce the arrival of William Shakespaw (aged 2, golden retriever) as a new patron for 2019. Mr Shakespaw, a trainee therapy dog, will be donning his best red ruff during Shakespeare Week ready to tell the story of his famous playwright’s namesake.

William Shakespaw will be visiting some lucky schools to help their pupils celebrate Shakespeare’s life and work during Shakespeare Week. As a patron, William Shakespaw will also be helping children sniff out some of Shakespeare’s forgotten words. This is as well as exclusive appearances at the Warwickshire Schools Open Day and the SBT's New Place with celebrated children’s author and illustrator Marcia Williams on Friday 22 March.

Marcia William will also be creating a series of appealing illustrations of William Shakespaw, all with a Shakespearian twist! Postcards of these cartoons will be sold exclusively at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust shop.
