The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust are thrilled to be hosting Horrible Histories’ illustrator, Martin Brown, for a gorgeously gruesome live assembly at Stratford Playhouse. Martin will give tips and tricks for cartooning and drawing as well as find out how horrible you are in a special Shakespeare and Stratford themed quiz. Two time slots (am and pm) will be offered.
Be an actor or director
Pupils can take on the roles of actors and directors in our practical workshops on A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Plus, explore the magic of our RSC production through an engaging tour of our building.
Take part in a Tudor lesson
Shakespeare’s Schoolroom & Guildhall provides the missing chapter of the story of Shakespeare's life in Stratford - his education and the inspiration that led him to become the world’s greatest playwright. The workshop includes a Tudor lesson with young William’s Schoolmaster and a chance to write with feather quills!
View rare and historic documents
View rarely seen historic Church records from the time of William Shakespeare, who was baptised and buried at Holy Trinity Church. Tour the Church, see the bust of Shakespeare watching over his grave and spot the mysterious curse!

Standing across from Shakespeare’s final home, New Place, and right next door to his schoolroom, The Guild Chapel has long associations with the playwright and his family. Come and discover the hidden secrets of one of Stratford-upon-Avon’s most historic buildings with some free activities to celebrate Shakespeare Week.
Join a musical workshop
Join in workshops with professional musicians from Orchestra of the Swan focusing on music inspired by Shakespeare's works.
Take part in a meeting
Come and take part in a special Town Council meeting, hosted by the Mayor, including the opportunity to debate issues and to dress in role as one of the principal officers of the Council: the Mayor, Town Clerk, Macebearers and Beadle.
